The Kansas City Chiefs fell 14-20 to the Las Vegas Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium and are still alive in their fight to qualify for the 2024 NFL Playoffs.
The defeat prevented the Chiefs, with a 9-6 record, from clinching the AFC West division title.
After the loss Patrick Mahomes said he saw a path for the Kansas City Chiefs to reach the heights they have been able to achieve in recent seasons. “I still think we can do what we want to do,” Mahomes said.
And he clarified: “The question is how we can correct it as quickly as possible. We have two games left guaranteed and then you talk about the playoffs and all you can do is go to the next day, get better and try to be better the next time we take the field.”
The Chiefs led the NFL in dropped passes and offensive penalties entering Week 16 and were among the league leaders in turnovers.
“You’re seeing flashes of it,” Mahomes said when asked what gave him reason to believe the Chiefs could fix the offensive issues that have plagued them for most of the season. “You see flashes of us moving the ball, you see flashes of us scoring in the red zone. It’s just that we haven’t done it enough consistently game after game at the end of the season. Like we had a good game, a bad game, a good game, a bad game, but we have to be more consistent because when you get to the playoffs you have to string some together.”
“If we organize ourselves, we can score points,” he said. “It’s just that we have to organize ourselves. We have two games left. You have to do it and if we don’t do it, we’re going home.”
“If we get fit, we can beat anyone. I really believe it, but we have to show that we can do it,” Mahomes concluded.
Good gesture from Mahomes
This Christmas was very different for a low-income group thanks to NFL star Patrick Mahomes and his wife.
The Kansas City Chiefs player surprised several little ones thanks to his “15 and Mahomies” foundation and brought them clothes and food for this special holiday date.
Through their social networks, the couple shared images of the emotional moment in which they meet the children of EarlystART, a children’s educational center, to give them their respective Christmas gifts.
Later, his wife Brittany Mahomes visited Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, where she visited patients and their families to encourage them and also donate some things.
