In order to support their residents, several US states announced that they will issue stimulus checks in 2024.

These direct payments, which range from a few hundred dollars to more than $1,000, come from different sources, including property tax rebates and COVID-19 recovery funds.

Below, we share five states that will give stimulus checks:

Arizona

With the fiscal 2024 budget, around 743 thousand Arizona residents are expected to benefit from the new stimulus check program called ‘Arizona Families Tax Rebate’.

This program will offer a maximum of $750 dollars, giving $250 for each dependent under 17 years of age and $100 for each dependent over 17 years of age.

Taxpayers should have reported dependents on families’ 2021 tax returns.

California

By 2024, California will provide a one-child tax credit to qualifying families.

The credit will be up to $3,600 per qualifying child. There is also an additional tax credit for families with children under 6 years old, up to $1,083 per tax return.

Colorado

Colorado residents will receive TABOR refunds estimated at $847 for individual filers and $1,694 for couples filing jointly.

There is expected to be a return of approximately $3.28 billion to taxpayers.

TABOR, which stands for Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, is a rule adopted in Colorado that controls how much money the government can collect and spend.

Maryland

Continuing its child tax credit in 2024, Maryland offers up to $500 per child under age 6 or with a disability. It is estimated that this credit will benefit 40 thousand taxpayers.

New Mexico

New Mexico residents have until May 2024 to file their tax returns and receive a refund check of up to $1,000.

Married couples filing jointly, heads of household and surviving spouses will receive up to $1,000, while individual filers and married couples filing separately can receive up to $500.
