Rosemary Monaco tragically died at age 86 when a fire devastated her home in Queens (NYC) last night, leaving three people injured.

Crews battled the fire around 11 p.m. Tuesday on both floors of the home on 66th Avenue, Rego Park. Monaco was found unconscious inside and was later pronounced dead, reported ABCNews.

A 54-year-old man who was also found inside the home is being treated at a local hospital and is expected to recover. Additionally, two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

An unidentified neighbor said the fire spread throughout the house in a short time. “I came out of my house and saw a bunch of fire trucks. I took a look and the whole house was on fire. And the fire spread pretty quickly. “When I first got there, it was only in the middle and then at the top and everything was completely engulfed in flames,” he recalled.

There was no information about the relationship between the deceased woman and the injured man. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Authorities said no electric bicycles, which have been linked to several fatal fires in recent years in New York, were found inside the home.
