Alec Baldwin pleaded not guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter for the death of the director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, during the filming of the film “Rust” in October 2021.

It should be remembered that just a few days ago, on January 19, the “Nothing Hill” singer was again accused of the same charge by a New Mexico grand jury made up of eight people, who considered that the actor committed involuntary manslaughter.

It is important to mention that during the first trial against the actor, he was acquitted because it was determined that the gun that Baldwin used during the filming of “Rust”, and that was accidentally shot at Hutchins according to the actor, it was modified.

However, prosecutors Karri Morrissey and Jason Lewis, who participated in the first case, asked a grand jury for a new indictment, which was released in previous days, which once again placed the American actor in the “eye of the hurricane.”

What could await Alec Baldwin?

It was on October 20, 2021 when the news broke about the death of Halyna Hutchins, director of photography for “Rust”, a western that was filmed in the state of New Mexico. After the unfortunate accident, it was revealed that the cause of death of the filmmaker had been the detonation of a firearm that was in the hands of Alec Baldwin, the protagonist of the film.

According to the actor, who has maintained his statement throughout this time, the gun was fired accidentally. However, New Mexico prosecutors decided to put the “Blackkklansman” singer on trial, who was acquitted. However, the new accusation against the actor could endanger his freedom, since if found guilty, the star would spend up to 18 months in state prison.

In the new trial, as well as the previous one, it is focused on finding out how a real bullet appeared in the drum in the gun that Alec Baldwin was holding and that killed Hutchins in addition to damaging the director of the film.

Following the revelation of the new accusation, Baldwin’s attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, declared themselves ready and “willing” to attend the New Mexico courts to prove their client’s innocence.

In addition to Alec Baldwin, the person in charge of the security protocol in “Rust”, Hannah Gutierrez-Red, was charged with the same crime for which Baldwin is accused, in addition to tampering with evidence. Her trial will begin on February 21. Meanwhile, David Halls, considered an assistant director, and who gave the gun to Baldwin, accepted a lesser charge for which he was sentenced to six months of probation.
