Not all houses need immediate renovation. When Bryce Dallas Howard and her husband Seth Gabel bought her house in New York seven years ago, they weren’t planning on making any big changes, but her opinion changed over time.
Recently the specialized magazine ‘Architectural Digest’ visited the actress at her home in New York to show details of the final result of the renovation. During her visit, the 42-year-old actress had the opportunity to talk about her history with the property.
It should be noted that a couple of years ago the same magazine did a review on the couple’s mansion in Los Angeles, California.
Dallas Howard and Gabel bought this house in New York because they wanted to have a lodging option outside of Los Angeles, they tell ‘Architectural Digest’ that they see that city only as work.
The immediate option she had was the East Coast, since she was born and raised in Connecticut. They also highlight that they both attended New York University, where they met and began their own love story.
Finally, in 2017, they decided on a house built in the 1930s. They are excited to say that Gabel, upon seeing the property for the first time, fell completely in love.
In the following years the couple was unable to visit the property too frequently due to work commitments; However, during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the couple decided to take refuge in the place that they had precisely bought as a refuge.
The time they spent in the residence made them think about a renovation project that would make the place much more pleasant and suitable to their tastes. That’s why they decided to call Claire Thomas again, the same designer who was in charge of her mansion in Los Angeles.
Even before entering the house, its stone façade and light blue main door draw attention. This property is not too spacious and the original style was not too luxurious, so the project tried to maintain much of that essence.
Light blue stands out in many spaces in the house, such as the base of the main staircase. Also worth mentioning are its hardwood floors, ceilings with exposed wood beams, and brick-covered fireplaces.
On the other hand, the house is always illuminated with natural light thanks to the large windows and French doors that give access to the backyard with green areas and a terrace ideal for relaxing outdoors.
