The security spokesperson for the Government of Tamaulipas, Jorge Cuéllar Montoya, revealed that the murder case of the aunt of soccer player Rodolfo Pizarro has been politicized, and that the event could have happened anywhere in the country.
The security spokesperson of the Government of Tamaulipas confirmed the murder of the player’s aunt, identified as Elizabeth Thomas González, which occurred in a home in the Ampliación de la Unidad Nacional neighborhood in Ciudad Madero.
Cuéllar Montoya expressed: “what happened there could have happened anywhere,” dismissing the idea that insecurity in the region is unique or extraordinary.
The spokesperson accused the “right and the extreme right,” referring to the adversaries of the political force in the state government, of starting a campaign to exaggerate the insecurity situation in Tamaulipas, linking the fact with the upcoming electoral campaigns.
And he warned about the spread of misinformation and attacks, suggesting that this behavior is a right-wing pattern of political gain at the expense of tragedy.
The attack occurred on Saturday night at the residence of Pizarro’s aunt, where several individuals violently broke in. Elizabeth Thomas González lost her life at the hands of the attackers, while her husband was seriously beaten. Rodolfo Pizarro’s mother, who was visiting, suffered gunshot wounds while trying to escape from her.
Tamaulipas authorities have launched an investigation, confirming that two more people were injured in the incident. Although they do not rule out any line of investigation, they point out that the motive for the murder could be related to an attempted robbery.
Rodolfo Pizarro, known for his career in soccer as a former player for several clubs, including Chivas del Guadalajara, and former Mexican national team, currently plays for AEK Athens, and the news of the tragedy has generated a wave of condolences in the sporting field and beyond.
The Pizarro family is now in the midst of a crisis that has revealed vulnerability to the growing wave of violence in the region. The community awaits answers and justice while authorities intensify their efforts to clarify this unfortunate event.
