In the life of Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra not everything is rosy, although it may seem that way. It was recently reported that the couple had to leave their mansion in Encino, California, due to a mold infection.
The Jonas Chopra family’s problems are not recent, as shortly after purchasing it they were affected by damage inside the residence. They are even currently facing legal proceedings.
Recently ‘Page Six’ had access to the legal documents that make clear what happened. First of all, we must remember that the couple bought this house in September 2019 for $20 million dollars, at the time it made the news because it became the most expensive house ever sold in Encino.
It is now known that the couple filed a lawsuit in May 2023. The documents explain that in April 2020 the property’s pool and spa began to generate problems such as porous waterproofing and this resulted in mold contamination. They even explain that during those same days there was a water leak in the barbecue area.
The water leak in the barbecue area caused problems inside the main house, making the place uninhabitable for the family. The documents say the location was “dangerous from a health perspective to occupy.”
Clearly this whole situation has caused the couple to have to invest a lot of money in repairs, it is even known that they are not currently living in the place because all the necessary restorations are being done.
However, they are not satisfied with solving the entire problem themselves and that there are no consequences for those who sold the place in 2019.
This is why Jonas and Chopra have filed a lawsuit and their team of lawyers is working on all possibilities so that their clients are heard.
Fred Fenster, the couple’s attorney: “Alternatively, the plaintiff should be reimbursed for all repair costs, plus compensation for loss of use and other damages caused by the defendants’ conduct.”
As the repairs have not yet been completed, there is no exact cost figure. However, the documents estimate about $1.5 million dollars to fix the waterproofing problem and $2.5 million dollars in additional repairs.
