FC Barcelona demonstrated its effectiveness in Mendizorroza by beating Deportivo Alavés 1-3 on matchday 23 of LaLiga EA Sports. Robert Lewandowski, İlkay Gündoğan and Vitor Roque were the protagonists of the goals that ensured the victory for the culé team.
Although Samu Omorodion added excitement to the scoreboard with the score at 1-2, Barcelona maintained its style of play, being faithful to its tactics and securing its position in the fight for the leadership of LaLiga.
With this victory, the Blaugrana team remains in third position in the table with 50 points, while Deportivo Alavés remains with 26 points.
The local team had the first opportunities of the match through Álex Sola’s forays down the right wing, although they were unable to score a goal.
Minutes later, Barcelona opened the scoring with a goal from Robert Lewandowski, who received a brilliant pass from İlkay Gündoğan and scored with a lob in front of the goalkeeper.
Despite Alavés’ attempts, with Jon Guridi being one of the most active, Barcelona goalkeeper Iñaki Peña easily stopped a solo shot inside the area.
In the second half, Alavés continued looking for the goal, but lacked success in their clear opportunities. Meanwhile, Barcelona, under the direction of Xavi Hernández, maintained its strategy of possession and combinations, extending its lead with a goal from İlkay Gündoğan after a precise pass from Pedri over the rival defense.
Alavés reacted with a header from Samu Omorodion, who took advantage of a brilliant play by Sola on the right.
Vitor Roque became the protagonist by surprising Antonio Sivera with a low shot that scored the third goal for Barcelona. However, three minutes later, Roque was sent off after receiving the second yellow card after a collision with Rafa Marín.
