After the impact of the news of Lewis Hamilton’s signing to Scuderia Ferrari, the British driver himself went to his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter) to share an extensive statement saying goodbye to Mercedes.
“After eleven years, the time has come to start a new chapter in my life. I feel incredibly lucky, after being able to achieve with Mercedes what I dreamed of as a child, I now have the opportunity to fulfill another childhood dream. “Driving in red in a Ferrari,” Hamilton wrote.
“It is the right time to make a change and take on a new challenge (…) I am excited to see what I can contribute and what we can achieve together,” he confessed about his new adventure in Maranello for 2025.
The seven-time world champion thus says goodbye to Mercedes, confessing that “it was the most difficult decision I have had to make. “I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together and very grateful for the hard work and dedication of all those I have worked with over the years.”
“I’m not thinking about 2025. I’m focused on next season and returning to the circuit with Mercedes. “I am more motivated than ever, fitter and more focused than ever and I want to help Mercedes win once again,” said Lewis Hamilton.
“I must also share my enormous gratitude to the entire board of directors of Mercedes-Benz and all members of the company in Germany and around the world for supporting me during these 26 years (…) I still remember the feeling of taking a leap of faith towards the unknown when I first joined Mercedes in 2013. I know some people didn’t understand it at the time, but I was right to take the step then and it’s the feeling I have again. now. “I am excited to see what I can bring to this new opportunity and what we can do together,” said the British driver.
“Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with me, you have all encouraged me as I pursued my dreams and I hope I can continue to make you proud. As always, I send you my love and positive energy,” concluded the British pilot.
