Tickets for the upcoming Super Bowl LVIII, where the reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will face off on February 11, are experiencing the highest prices in Super Bowl history dating back to 1967.

The match will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise (Nevada, USA) with a capacity for 65,000 spectators. According to the online sales platform ‘TicketSmarter’, ticket prices for this event range between $7,182 and $12,121, considerably exceeding last year’s $5,678 for Super Bowl LVII between the Philadelphia Eagles and Chiefs.

Other websites like TickPick offer their tickets from $8,188 to $9,800, while on StubHub, a ticket for the highest section of Allegiant Stadium starts at $6,453, and the most expensive, in a premium category with VIP pass, is found on sale for $44,000 dollars.

The Super Bowl, being the most watched sporting event in the United States, has seen a significant increase in ticket prices since its first edition. At Super Bowl I in 1967, the average ticket was $12 dollars, equivalent to $112 dollars adjusted for current inflation.

Over the years, prices have seen significant increases. For example, at Super Bowl

At Super Bowl XXXI in 1997, the ticket cost was $275 ($530 adjusted), and for Super Bowl XLIII in 2009, where the first average ticket price of $1,000 was established, tickets would currently be worth $1,453.

Until this year, the record for the cost of tickets in the regular market belonged to Super Bowl LIV in 2020, with an average ticket price of $6,327, when the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers at Hard Rock Stadium from Miami, Florida.
