As we approach March, millions of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients are preparing to receive their next payment, which will be up to $943 for those filing taxes individually.
This will be the second payment of the year 2024, after a peculiar start to the year in which no payments were made in January due to the scheduling of the Social Security Administration calendar.
This payment will be made on March 1, continuing with the schedule established for this year by Social Security.
It is important to note that the maximum amount that each beneficiary can receive varies depending on the way in which their tax filing was done: individually or together with their partner.
‘Essential people’, the name given to those who live and care for SSI beneficiaries, will also receive a payment.
For this year, it has been established that individual applicants can receive up to $943 per month, eligible couples up to $1,415 dollars, and essential individuals up to $472, which represents an increase of 3.2% compared to the previous year.
It is worth mentioning that not all beneficiaries will receive the maximum amount. Through the SSA calculator, applicants can get a personalized estimate of their payment.
To be eligible for SSI, applicants must meet certain requirements, such as being at least 65 years old, being completely or partially blind, or having a physical or mental condition that seriously limits their daily activities for a period of 12 months or more. , or is expected to result in death.
The SSI program was established in 1974 with the goal of providing extra assistance to citizens in vulnerable situations, including the elderly, blind and disabled.
