Christian Horner, head of the Red Bull Formula 1 team where Mexican driver Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez races, is under an internal investigation for accusations of inappropriate behavior.
A Red Bull spokesperson confirmed that after learning of some recent allegations, the company has begun an independent investigation.
“This process, which is already underway, is carried out by an external specialist lawyer. The company takes these matters very seriously. And the investigation will be completed as soon as possible. “It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time,” the spokesperson said.
The origin of this situation seems to have been revealed during the famous Hahnenkamm ski downhill race, where rumors arose and serious accusations made by another company employee towards Horner.
Red Bull said in a statement on Monday: “After being informed of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist lawyer. The company takes care of these matters.
“It is extremely serious and the investigation will be completed as soon as possible. “It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff would be taking the Horner-related situations revealed to the company very seriously.
Despite the seriousness of the events being investigated, Red Bull wanted to emphasize through a statement that the investigation will be carried out independently, given the importance that the company attaches to this type of matter.
Christian Horner has been a key figure for Red Bull since its entry into Formula 1 in 2005. Under his leadership, the team has achieved seven drivers’ titles and six constructors’ titles, standing out especially for the rise and outstanding performance of Max Verstappen in the premier category of motorsport. Horner’s role as team manager has been fundamental to the success achieved in recent years.
This matter comes at a delicate time for Red Bull, since any distraction off the track could impact its preparation for the next Formula 1 season that will start at the Bahrain International Circuit on March 2. There, Mad Max must once again defend the crown that he won in 2022 and that he revalidated the following year.
