A Latino migrant who traveled as a “parrillero” on a motorcycle, driven by another foreigner, dragged a woman down a street in Brooklyn, New York, to steal her belongings, including her cell phone. As he fell to the ground, the victim hit an obstacle on the sidewalk.
According to authorities, the subjects, who were part of a criminal gang that had committed several robberies in the Big Apple, were arrested. This gave clues to a larger criminal network made up of undocumented immigrants who have spread terror in the streets of the city.
In recent days, there has been an increase in cases in which undocumented immigrants snatched New Yorkers’ phones from their hands, with agile maneuvers.
The attack against the woman was recorded in a video, which was published by the New York Police Department, in which it is also observed that some people who were walking in the area helped the woman, who was left apparently unconscious. While another, as can be seen in the images, tries to go behind the motorcycle where the criminals were riding.
In this case, two men were arrested, identified as Cleyber Andrade, 19, and Juan Uzcátegui, 23, originally from Venezuela. And the group, according to police sources, is related to 62 cases of grand theft in the city, published the New YorkPost.
The disturbing video
The violent incident, captured in the disturbing video, shows how the woman, identified as Irina Panteleeva, was dragged along the sidewalk in front of a juice bar on Sheepshead Bay Road in Brooklyn. The criminals snatched her purse, keys, phone, credit cards and glasses.
Irina Panteleeva, 62, who suffered serious injuries and bruises during the incident, said she was in deep pain and shock. “I feel bad, I feel bad. The thieves stole my purse,” the woman said in a telephone interview with the New YorkPost.
According to the media, the leader of the criminal group is Víctor Parra, a 30-year-old Venezuelan migrant. He is actively wanted by authorities after being released by a judge last December. The police, he noted, are working hard to capture him and dismantle the network of criminals who have caused chaos in the streets of New York.
“It’s very bad, because they don’t love us immigrants and with that they make the situation worse for the immigrant who comes to fight here,” a woman told Telemundo.
Carlos Nieves, Deputy Commissioner of Communications of the New York Police Department, told the news network that the man driving the motorcycle earns $100 a day, while for each phone they steal they are paid between $300 and $600. depending on the equipment model.
“Those phones are then taken to an apartment, where a technician checks the phones and tries to discover the phone codes to steal the victims’ bank accounts and credit cards,” Nieves explained.
