Sebastián Piñera, former president of Chile, reportedly died this Tuesday afternoon after an accident with his helicopter in the commune of Lago Ranco, Los Ríos region.
Local media reported that the accident occurred due to bad weather conditions, a few minutes after taking off.
Likewise, they reported that former President Piñera would have piloted the helicopter and would not have been able to remove his seat belt in time to escape.
Other people, apparently family and friends, were on board the helicopter and would have managed to escape before it sank.
Piñera was president of Chile for two terms (2010-2014 and 2018-2022).
