In 2008, a Walmart in Garfield Heights closed its doors due to serious concerns about the safety of the location, due to structural problems and the presence of potentially explosive methane gas.

YouTuber Seph Lawless decided to enter the Walmart and record a video of its interior.

The Walmart was located in what was the failed City View shopping center, built on an old landfill in the city of Garfield Heights, in the state of Ohio.

The consequences of building on a landfill became known shortly after the plaza opened, as several people reported feeling sick, both customers and employees.

It was decided that it would be best to close the plaza and the Walmart on September 15, 2008.

Years after its closure, the abandoned building became a symbol of abandonment and neglect, with broken glass and graffiti adorning its desolate interior, as seen in the video.

Despite being closed, EPA officials detected potentially dangerous levels of methane believed to still be under the parking lot. This means that if a lit cigarette butt were thrown down a sewer, the gas could ignite.

In the video you can see an open manhole cover in the parking lot. In addition, remains of cigarettes and even fireworks scattered throughout the abandoned property.
