The long-awaited fight between WBC 140-pound champion Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia will finally take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in New York.
Originally the confrontation would take place on April 20 in Las Vegas, Haney’s hometown.
However, Oscar De La Hoya, owner of Golden Boy Promotions, announced that the clash will finally take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and will be broadcast on DAZN.
It was also announced that a press tour open to the public will begin next week. Performances will begin at the Palladium Times Square in New York on February 27 and at the Avalon in Hollywood, California on February 29.
The fight will also be promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Matchroom Boxing and the promotional teams of both boxers.
“You won’t want to miss these press conferences. “I have a surprise for New York during the press conference… a new teammate,” García wrote on social media on Wednesday.
The fight against Garcia will be Haney’s first defense of his WBC championship which he won when he defeated Regis Prograis by unanimous decision on December 9, 2023.
García, for his part, defeated Óscar Duarte by KO in the eighth round in December of last year, exactly one week before Haney was crowned champion against Prograis.
