Nayib Bukele, president of El Salvador, issued a warning during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday. Without mentioning specific names — neither Joe Biden nor Donald Trump, who are likely to face each other in this year’s election — he highlighted the need for the next American president to be prepared to identify and confront the “dark forces” that threaten stability. of the United States, and that they are even already “taking over” the country.

The Salvadoran president established parallels between the years prior to the civil war in El Salvador and the current situation in the United States. Thus, he emphasized that the elected head of state must not only win an election, but also have the necessary vision and courage to address the internal and external challenges facing the nation.

“The next president of the United States must not only win an election, he must have the vision, the will and the courage to do what is necessary, to identify the dark forces that conspire against him. “Those dark forces are already taking over his country,” he warned.

The Conservative Political Action Conference, being one of the most important in the country, received Nayib Bukele with cheers and displays of support from the audience, published Telemundo. During his speech, the Salvadoran president criticized globalization and the press—which he accused of publishing fake news and receiving financing from billionaire George Soros and global elites.

“Democracy needs a free press, but report the facts and not be puppets of those who finance them,” he said.

A possible “civil war” in the United States

The president of El Salvador warned about the possibility of a civil war in the United States in the coming years and made reference to the years of conflict in his country. He also highlighted the importance of learning from past mistakes and taking preventive measures so that there is no similar scenario.

In addition, he criticized cities governed by Democrats in the United States and accused them of promoting the acceptance of crime and drugs.

His participation in the conference highlighted the conservatives’ efforts to reach Latino voters in the United States, seeking to win their support in the upcoming elections.

Bukele’s presence reflects the growing internationalization of conservative political movements and the search for strategic alliances to promote common agendas. However, the participation of foreign conservative leaders has also generated controversy, especially due to the inclusion of far-right voices in events such as CPAC.
