Nikki Haley, the Republican candidate in the presidential primaries, reaffirmed this Saturday her determination to continue in the race despite her resounding defeat to Donald Trump in the recent elections in South Carolina.
Despite the overwhelming difference in votes that separated her from the former president, the politician assured her followers that she will remain in the race, thus fulfilling her commitment to offer a valid alternative for Republican voters, the Efe news agency published.
At a rally organized to celebrate his long-awaited victory, although it was not the result he expected, he reiterated his commitment to the principles and values he represents.
“I am a woman of my word. “I am not going to abandon this fight when a majority of Americans disapprove of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” she said.
Nikki Haley also said that, given the primary elections that will be held in the next states, it is essential to offer voters a real and diverse option, beyond the polarization that she considers exists between the candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
“In the next ten days, 21 states and territories are going to speak. They have the right to have real options, not a Soviet-style election with a single candidate. And it is my obligation to give them that option,” Haley emphasized.
The former governor of North Carolina expressed her commitment to democratic values and the diversity of opinions within the party.
For his part, Donald Trump thanked South Carolina voters for giving him a comfortable majority over Nikki Haley, reflecting the confidence placed in his leadership.
At an event in Columbia, he celebrated the victory and highlighted his record of winning in the state’s primaries. “South Carolina, thank you very much! Now, go home and rest, we have a lot of work ahead of us,” said the former Republican president.
Although she did not directly mention Haley, her victory represented a significant blow to the candidate, intensifying pressure on her to reconsider entering the race.
The American media highlights the forcefulness of Trump’s victory in the state where Haley has her roots. The results raise questions about the future of his campaign and his standing within the Republican Party.
