The Barclays Center in Brooklyn was announced a few days ago as the venue for the fight on Saturday, April 20 between Ryan García and Devin Haney.
This WBC super lightweight fight scheduled in New York City has given a lot to talk about and even Ryan García himself expressed himself on his social networks.
“This is an MGM Vegas fight, doing everything we can to bring this fight to Las Vegas and giving this fight what it deserves. “This decision has nothing to do with New York and everything to do with business and what I think is the best move for my career,” García said in his post on X.
To which Haney responded: “This guy is planning his escape.”
Oscar De La Hoya, owner of Golden Boy Promotions, announced that the clash will finally take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and will be broadcast on DAZN.
It was also announced that a press tour open to the public will begin next week. Performances will begin at the Palladium Times Square in New York on February 27 and at the Avalon in Hollywood, California on February 29.
The fight will also be promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Matchroom Boxing and the promotional teams of both boxers.
Dialectical war between García and Haney
“I’m coming like a roaring lion, coming back for blood,” said super lightweight world title contender Ryan Garcia. “I’m excited to bring another mega fight to boxing, that’s all I intend to do. I will put everything in the hands of the Lord. I pray that Devin comes out safely, and that everyone has fun.”
For his part, Devin Haney indicated: “Facing Ryan García on April 20, 2024 is another step in my pursuit of greatness and cementing my legacy as one of the best champions in the sport.”
And he closed: “I don’t need to say much. My record speaks of my ability in the ring to overcome any challenge that comes my way and reach the top. I am committed to giving the fans what they want: the best boxing matches. I have proven time and time again that I am a formidable opponent, and it is my skills and the trust I have in my team that will carry me to victory. “I am glad that Ryan’s team shares the same enthusiasm for offering fans great boxing and we are ready to offer them the best boxing event of the year in New York, at the Barclays Center.”
