Manchester City won by the slightest difference 1-0 against Bournemouth, a closely contested match and their team was overwhelmed in the second half.

With this victory, the Spanish coach’s team placed itself in second position in the Premier League, below Liverpool by one point and surpassing Arsenal, which occupies third position.

“The mentality. Our fans have to be very proud of the boys. I don’t know what will happen at the end of the season, but I will be close to them,” commented Guardiola.

Despite the victory, Guardiola’s face showed that he was not entirely happy. And it seems that the calendar is to blame. In a week in which they have had three games (draw against Chelsea, victory with Brentford and victory against Bournemouth), the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich player spoke about the ‘business’ of football in England and throughout Europe.

Manchester City were seen without legs and having difficulty matching Bournemouth’s intensity, something that may be due to the tough schedule of Guardiola’s team.

The City coach did not hesitate to praise his players while criticizing the schedule. “Thank you very much for the calendar. It’s too much. Absolutely. But business must continue. I love my players. They are supermen. They play every three days. When people say: ‘Can you play under the same conditions in the Premier League?’ No. We played more games than everyone else.”

Pep wanted to emphasize the desire they have to continue winning titles, but also to play down the issue in case they are not able to achieve it, since the team’s mentality is appropriate.

And he also gave a reflection on Phil Foden. “He has already become a top-level soccer player. Before he was a little boy and now he is a world-class player. He is very good. He can play everywhere, but especially in central positions, he is really good.”
