Every week different goals are scored in European football that make fans jump out of their seats, but the one scored this Sunday by Venezuelan Darwin Machís so that his team Cádiz rescued a 2-2 draw at 90+9 against Celta de Vigo for the Spanish LaLiga was truly impressive.
With the need to rescue a point at home at the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium, Machís took the field at minute 87 as his team’s last option in attack against a Celta that was ahead in the match 1-2 thanks to goals from Iago Aspas and Williot Swedberg.
It seemed that everything was lost and that the presence of the Hispanic would not change the present of the match, but a bad rebound in a corner was enough for the balance to even out.
The corner kick at 90+8 was executed in search of a header but the half-clearance of the defense was taken advantage of by Machís, who took the ball on the counterattack and finished with a strong placed shot to make the final 2-2.
In any other circumstance the ball could have ended up in one of the stands of the stadium but in the end Machís’ shot was with such force and direction that the Celta goalkeeper, Vicente Guaita, could not do anything and stood watching as the ball It ended up in the back of the net after having passed through the corner of the goal.
The goal was not only key for Cádiz to rescue a point but also to prevent Celta de Vigo from escaping the table in the fight for relegation. Darwin Machís’ team accumulates 18 points and is in 18th position while Celta is one step higher with 21 units.
