Mexican actor Diego Boneta will face one of the biggest challenges in his acting career: giving life to a superhero with Mexican roots who struggles to find himself while fighting various threats.
Under the name “El Gato”, the Mexican actor will play Frank Guerrero, the main character of the comic series created by artist Richard Vázquez “El Gato Negro”. It should be noted that the project had originally been planned to be brought to the big screen in 2019.
However, and due to a variety of reasons, the adaptation was “canned.” It was a few months ago that the project was rescued by the streaming platform Prime Video and MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer) in series format.
What will “The Cat” be about?
Although information regarding the project is still scarce, various sources have revealed that Boneta will play a young man with Latin roots who returns to Mexico after his father dies. During this trip, Frank Guerrero will discover that his father was actually a superhero called El Gato, which will trigger a large number of situations and events.
Frank will embark on a thrilling quest to unravel the mysteries surrounding his father and his connection to a dark plot. As he delves deeper into The Cat’s legacy, Frank will face dangerous threats and discover the true extent of the power he possesses.
The story starring Diego Boneta is scheduled to begin during the spring of this year. The locations, so far, will be located on the border between Mexico and the United States, just like in Vázquez’s comics.
As part of the cast of directors is the famous writer Eric Carrasco, known for his work on series such as “Supergirl”, who will serve as creator, showrunner and executive producer.
Likewise, and in addition to his leading role, Boneta will serve as executive producer of the series: “Sharing El Gato with audiences around the world is a dream come true. “This has been a dream since I started Three Amigos (his production house).”
It should be noted that this is not the first time that Boneta has been involved in projects of this nature. In previous years, the Mexican actor has participated in great action and science fiction films such as “Terminator: Dark: Fate”, “Monster Hunter”, among others.
