In the midst of negotiations with Nike to improve the conditions of the current contract that expires in 2028 with FC Barcelona, the Spanish team has on the horizon an unusual brand from Denmark but that could bring it better benefits than those it currently has with the transnational company. US.
The Catalan team is considering all options to guarantee the provision of kits and its commercial exploitation on a large scale, something that the Hummel brand could offer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, in addition to Puma’s interest in becoming the technical sponsor of the Barça club, president Joan Laporta mentioned on February 2 on RAC 1 the possibility of the club operating with its own brand, although for this it would need a partner that facilitates all production at the factory level.
According to information revealed by Jijantes, the Danish company Hummel is an alternative that Barça is considering to produce its extensive line of competition clothing in case the talks with Nike end abruptly, thus breaking the link that has existed since 1998, waiting for a possible agreement with Puma for the 2025-26 season.
In that case, Hummel could become Barça’s supplier for next season’s kits.
Hummel, which has a large market in handball as well as being the supplier to teams such as Las Palmas, Betis, Southampton, Everton, Málaga and Sabadell, is an option that Barcelona is seriously considering.
Barcelona is seeking to resolve this issue imminently due to the urgency of manufacturing next season’s kits. The club has consulted prestigious law firms to find out the costs of terminating the current contract with Nike, which currently does not allow the opening of stores abroad or electronic commerce from the United States.
