Cristiano Ronaldo’s gesture towards the Al Shabab fans after 2-3 in the last match continues to generate controversy. The Saudi Arabian league’s Disciplinary Committee is considering a two-match ban. In response, the forward explained that his gesture after the goal expresses strength and victory, and is not shameful, as public opinion in Saudi Arabia described it.

“I respect all clubs. And the gesture after the shot expresses strength and victory, and is not shameful. We are used to it in Europe,” were the words of the Portuguese star as indicated by the Saudi media ‘Al-Riyadiya’ in statements reported by Marca.

The regulations establish that the Disciplinary Committee can intervene in cases like that of Cristiano Ronaldo if the images are seen on the official television of the Saudi league and if there is a complaint supported by evidence, such as video recordings.

The two games that Ronaldo would miss would be against Al Hazem and Al Raed, both at the Al Nassr stadium. However, he could play in the Asian Champions against Al-Ain and return for the important duel with Al Ahli.

Although the incident was not captured by television cameras, criticism of the 39-year-old Portuguese forward has not been long in coming. The Saudi Arabian Football Federation has launched an investigation, according to local media reports.
