A Michigan man transformed a small $100 lottery prize into an extraordinary fortune of $1 million, proving that sometimes, fate works in favor of those who take risks.
The lucky 59-year-old winner went to a store called Meijer on Haggerty Road in Commerce Township with the intention of purchasing some lottery tickets.
“I bought four tickets and won $100, so I used some of my winnings to buy more tickets, including this ‘$1,000,000 Cash Multiplier’ ticket,” the lucky winner told Michigan Lottery officials.
First, the player scratched the barcode off the ticket and scanned it using the Michigan Lottery app.
The winner’s initial reaction was one of disbelief: “When I saw confetti appear on the screen with a $1 million prize, I thought the scanner was broken. Then I scratched off the entire ticket and that’s when I saw that I had really won. It was amazing,” she said.
The winner plans to use part of his new fortune to buy a retirement home with a pool.
