A tourist helicopter crashed on a remote beach on the island of Kauai, an archipelago of Hawaii, on Tuesday, injuring one person, as well as four others who were uninjured, including the pilot, the Kauai County Fire Department said.

The events occurred on Honopu Beach, on the Napali Coast, which can only be accessed by walking, kayaking or by plane, when a helicopter carrying five people, one of whom suffered a back injury that required medical attention, while the other four were unharmed.

The fire department released an image of the crashed helicopter, which showed signs of damage to the structure and fuselage, which left the device stranded on the sand of the beach, surrounded by vegetation. The crashed helicopter was owned by Jack Harter Helicopters, a company that offers aerial tours of the island.

The injured passenger, whose identity has not been revealed, was evacuated by a fire department helicopter to the Princeville airport, where paramedics were waiting to transport him to a nearby hospital.

For their part, the other occupants of the helicopter were picked up by another Jack Harter Helicopters aircraft, which took them back to their base.

So far, the company Jack Harter Helicopters has not issued any statement about the accident nor has it responded to the media that were trying to gather more information about the incident. Meanwhile, the causes of the accident have not been revealed, and it is not known whether an investigation will be launched.
