Depression is an illness that affects many people, even those who appear to have a perfect life on the outside. Galilea Montijo was not afraid to seek help and face her illness, which is admirable and brave.
“I can’t get off the antidepressant, and it’s not a strong antidepressant, thank God; In fact, they sell it to you without a prescription. I’m sorry. The day I didn’t take it began with terrible anguish. And look, I removed some drops that they say are dangerous, I really removed them,” he began by saying in ‘Netas Divinas’.
“And I lived, it’s this part of a little pill to sleep, a little pill to wake up, a little pill to stay awake. There came a point where I began to feel worse than these drops gave me relief and, thank God, in therapy they sent me this antidepressant that has been my salvation,” he added during his speech.
However, it is essential to keep in mind that antidepressants are not a permanent solution and that their use must go hand in hand with psychological therapy and lifestyle changes. Montijo also shared that there are times when she feels overwhelmed, but that she has learned to recognize the warning signs and seek help when she needs it.
The host concluded by commenting on the importance of talking openly about depression and other mental illnesses, and seeking professional help when necessary. The Mexican is an example of strength and courage by sharing her experience and promoting the importance of maintaining the well-being of each individual.
Let’s hope Galilea continues to get the help she needs and can find a way to overcome her dependence on antidepressants. It is essential that society continues to talk openly about mental health and that the stigma surrounding illnesses is banished.
