The Olympic Village for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was inaugurated by French President Emmanuel Macron on the banks of the Seine north of the French capital.
Macron made it clear that it is an exemplary construction due to its medieval character as well as its proposal to receive the most prestigious athletes from each country.
The headquarters is located very close to the Saint-Denis Stadium that will host the athletics events of the Olympic Games; The Olympic Village will be an ideal concentration place to facilitate the needs of athletes.
In the Olympic Village there are restaurants, rest areas, 7.5 hectares of green areas, walks on the banks of the Seine, apartments without air conditioning but adapted to the outside temperature.
Built over seven years with innovations to reduce its carbon footprint, the Olympic Village brings together some 82 buildings, 3,000 apartments and 7,200 rooms, and will have at its heart the City of Cinema, which will house the main restaurant.
In order to accommodate the 206 Olympic delegations, the organizers will now have to equip the departments with furniture, as well as prepare the service centers for the athletes.
This ephemeral city will have laundry and concierge services, a grocery store, a police station, a hair salon, a fitness room, a bar (without alcohol), a multi-denominational center and even a post office.
A 3,000 m2 polyclinic will also be available to athletes 24 hours a day for treatments, scans or MRIs.
The apartments will lack a kitchen, but the athletes will have a giant restaurant in the Cinema City open 24 hours a day, another smaller one in L’Île-Saint-Denis and “food-trucks” (food trucks) distributed throughout the Village.
“There will be two athletes for each 12 m² room and a bathroom for four people. Everyone will be on equal terms,” explains Laurent Michaud, head of the Olympic Villages of the organizing committee. Equipment and services will be provided by the sponsors.
Macron highlighted the Parisian constructions, “you can be proud, you have kept your promises, both in terms of deadline and budget. “We are a country of builders and despite the covid crisis, the 2 years of inflation, the War in Ukraine, we have achieved the largest project in France in record time.”
