The president of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez, highlighted the “good moment” that soccer is going through in South America, announcing that this year around $400 million dollars in prizes will be distributed in various competitions, such as the Copa Libertadores, the Sudamericana and the Copa America to be held in the United States.
“This year, we are going to redistribute more than $400 million dollars,” Domínguez told reporters after participating in an assembly of the Olimpia club in Asunción.
The president of Conmebol highlighted that this level of awards is unprecedented in South American football and that the growth in this aspect is unmatched in any other confederation in the world.
“This speaks of the good moment that South American football is experiencing,” commented Domínguez in statements reported by EFE, pointing out that this serves as a stimulus and motivation for societies and clubs in the region.
In addition, he highlighted the quality of the competitions, which in his opinion have improved significantly.
Domínguez thanked the ambition and passion of the public, as well as the leaders, and said that without the credibility, the sponsors and the rights owners, this level of awards would not have been possible.
