The technical director of the Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara, Fernando Gago, recognized that the defeat they suffered this weekend against the Cruz Azul Machine represented a hard blow to the good performance they had been recording in recent weeks and this represents a strong problem facing the first of the three national classics that will be played against the Águilas of Club América that correspond to the Clausura 2024 tournament of the Liga MX and the round of 16 of the Concacaf Champions Cup.
These statements were made by the strategist during the press conference after the match against the celestials that ended in a crushing 3-0 thanks to the scores of Lorenzo Faravelli and Uriel Antuna; Given this fact, he highlighted that they will have to work hard to improve their performance on the field of play and thus add victories that keep them at the top of the classification table.
“There are several aspects to correct, when you win and lose, my mentality is this. Today the game was not good. It is easy to answer: yes, it is worrying, we lost 3-0, everything is worrying, but in the positive and negative, because when we win, we also have to worry so that the team does not have that much confidence, things are also done wrong, today “We didn’t have a good game, tomorrow we’ll think about what’s coming,” the Argentine said in his statements.
“Yes, it is a blow, it is clear, but we have to overcome it, we cannot stay or think about how it will have an impact because it is a matter of until the game arrives and we cannot see it. Now it’s time to swallow what’s coming and work for Wednesday’s game,” Gago added.
The Chivas del Guadalajara coach was also questioned about the participation of Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández, who came on as a substitute instead of starting for the Rebaño Sagrado; Given this fact, Gago maintained that he is still working to regain the rhythm of competition after so many months without seeing action and that is why he did not start among the 11 starters, although he was part of a goal that ended up being disallowed due to offside.
“He lacks game rhythm, which is what we are looking for with this whole process to add minutes (Chicharito), who can have this football rhythm, he will recover it with minutes, but the evolution from the injury part is good and what we are looking for in football,” he explained.
“I can’t quickly analyze the positive things, because of the result, in the first half we didn’t play well, they surpassed us from positioning, duels, we had minutes where we had what we had to do. With a score of 3-0, it was difficult for us to play the game, in the second half it was more about desire, impetus, we lacked the game we intended,” concluded the Argentine.
With this defeat, the Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara fell to ninth position in the classification table of the Clausura 2024 tournament of the MX League by collecting a total of 15 points in 10 games played, so they are desperate for victories to recover positions; Their next match will be this Wednesday, March 6 for the National Classic against Club América for the Concacaf Champions Cup.
