The forward of the Águilas of Club América and one of its main figures, Henry Martín, assured that the 5-1 win that the team led by André Jardine recorded against the Rojinegros del Atlas this weekend in the match corresponding to Matchday 10 of the Clausura 2024 tournament of the MX League demonstrated all the strengths that the team has to reach the two-time Aztec football championship.
These statements were made after the match during a press conference in which he highlighted the enormous commitment and unity that they have forged in the squad to achieve the best possible results; He also recognized that this victory encourages them to maintain the same line of play against Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara (who lost 3-0 to Cruz Azul) in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Concacaf Champions Cup.
“The game was complicated from the beginning, the expulsion changes the game, their game plan collapses, but we always went to look for the goals and we were forceful,” said the striker who was the author of two of the five goals scored by the Coapa team.
The striker also commented that he has nothing to talk about the rest of the Liga MX teams and that he is solely focused on his work with the azulcremas to be able to achieve victory and thus advance to the Clausura 2024 Liguilla to once again reach the final of the Aztec championship.
“No message, we are dedicated to playing as a team, you can see that the team is involved and united, at the end of the day it is everyone’s job and the result is there on the field. We are going step by step, we are happy today, we did not expect a result like this, but we took advantage of the opportunities. We want Wednesday to arrive and for the best to win,” Martín highlighted.
Jardine happy with the result
The coach of the Águilas del Club América, André Jardine, was also happy with the victory they achieved against the Rojinegros del Atlas, although he maintained that now his only objective is to be able to defeat the Sacred Flock in the National Classic.
“We knew that we had to arrive at our best possible level, that’s why I repeated the lineup a few times, I gave an important sequence for the players who needed to be in a better version for this moment, we recovered important players, the best news is that we arrived complete for this game (against Chivas),” he expressed.
“Enjoying and at the same time digesting the game, understanding, seeing what went well for us and what we have to improve, starting tomorrow, thinking about Chivas, doing a deep analysis, knowing that it is a classic, a tough game where there is no favorites”, concluded the coach.
