A man was thrown onto train tracks at Penn Station in the first of two separate attacks on the New York subway on Sunday, authorities said.

The victim, 64 years old, was kicked in the back by an unknown person on the northbound A, C, E line platform at 34th Street and Eighth Avenue around 5:00 p.m., causing him to fall to his knees. the roads, officials said.

Other users helped him to safety and he was later taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village Hospital, where he was treated for knee and back pain, police said.

The man was talking on the phone when the stranger approached him and asked him something unintelligible, so the victim did not understand the individual, who then kicked him, police sources said.

In another separate attack, around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday night, a young woman, 19, was hit in the face by an assailant after the two argued on the mezzanine of the station located on 168th Street in Washington Heights, officers said.

An 18-year-old man who was with the young woman also had his cell phone stolen after he dropped it while they were trying to end the altercation, the agents said.

The woman was taken to New York-Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center in stable condition.

So far no arrests have been made in any of the cases mentioned above, while investigations continue.

The two criminal incidents in the subway are the latest trend in the increase in violence that has plagued users of the city’s public transportation system in recent weeks, including numerous shootings and stabbings.
