In the constant rise and fall of the world’s largest fortunes, Jeff Bezos has once again occupied first place as the richest person on the planet, displacing Elon Musk.
This change was recorded in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index yesterday, Monday, marking a new chapter in the rivalry of the two famous businessmen.
Bezos, founder of Amazon, saw his net worth rise to $200 billion, putting him above Musk’s $198 billion.
Over the last year, Musk has seen his fortune decrease by approximately $31 billion, while Bezos has increased his by $23 billion.
The competition to be the richest person in the world has not only included Musk and Bezos, but also Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, which is a conglomerate that runs luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior and Celine.
Arnault appeared on this list briefly thanks to an increase in sales of luxury goods.
It’s worth noting that shares of Elon Musk’s company Tesla fell more than 7% on Monday, helping Bezos outperform him.
Additionally, earlier this year, a Delaware state judge invalidated Musk’s 2018 compensation package, valued at more than $50 billion, which would have put him in first place in the world’s wealth.
To date, Tesla shares have fallen about 24% so far this year.
Although the title of the world’s richest person changes frequently, depending on the performance of the markets, Musk and Arnault remain very rich.
Since 2020, the net worth of the world’s five richest people has increased by 114%.
