As it emerged in the early hours of this Wednesday, Ancelotti received the complaint from the Prosecutor’s Office in Madrid to serve four years and nine months in prison for supposedly having defrauded the Spanish Treasury, but in the post-match interview he assured that he is innocent of the charges. charges against him.
“It is an old story that began eight years ago with a statement from 2015, because the Prosecutor’s Office thinks that I was a resident and I think that I was not a resident. I have already paid the fine, the money is already in the Prosecutor’s Office and only the lawyers are talking to find a solution,” commented the strategist in a case that shook the run-up to the round of 16 clash.
He later said that part of the accusation exists because in his opinion he is not guilty because he did not live in Spain (he resigned from Real Madrid at the end of the 2014 season) and the public entity considers that he did live in the Iberian country.
“I am convinced that I am innocent because I was not a resident in 2015 and they think I was. Let’s see what the judge decides,” added the Italian.
Regarding the development of the match, Ancelotti mentioned that he may have made a mistake in the approach of the match by including Eduardo Camavinga from the start instead of the usual Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes.
