A Latina migrant who recently arrived in the United States gained attention on social media after sharing her experience of suddenly losing her hair. Through her TikTok account, Patricia Andreas, originally from Venezuela, spoke of the worrying phenomenon that she has experienced since she arrived in the country.
One might think that the young migrant’s hair loss is due to the stress of starting a new life in another country. However, in the comments she left on the video she speculated that the cause could be related to the water and she suggested that the high chlorine content in the supply could be the triggering factor.
The content has generated an avalanche of comments and reactions on the social network of the young woman, who resides in Houston, Texas, and is a professional makeup artist. Some have offered her advice and suggestions to address the problem, while others have expressed her solidarity and share similar experiences.
“Like we’re all losing our hair since we got here? “Why?” wrote a user in the publication. “Yes, apparently because of the water, it has a lot of chlorine. “That’s what I’ve heard,” Patricia responded.
“That hair thing is terrible. I’ve been here for a month and a half and the same thing is happening to me. I saw a little change when I put a filter in the shower”; “I’m new to the United States, my hair is falling out, I have dandruff. Because?”; “I’m new to the United States and of course I have dandruff from that water, and I’m out of work”; “I’m also losing a lot and I’m afraid I’ll go bald,” other people commented.
The young woman also jokes in the video about her experience of living in the United States and having to do her shopping at Walmart, buy “chimbos (poor quality) nail polish” at Dollar Tree, and do her own nails because she couldn’t afford a salon. of beauty.
In another post, she shared with her followers some of the products she started using to control hair loss. He acknowledged that, although his condition has not stopped, he has improved.
First of all, he mentioned that he is taking iron pills, magnesium, special shampoo, collagen, rosemary tonic and rosemary oil. Finally, she said he bought a filter for the shower.
“I have understood that the water here, at least in Texas, is very bad, it is full of chlorine and many things and that is what mainly affects hair loss,” he said. “What is the main thing that I think has helped me with hair loss? The little drops (of rosemary oil), which I have been super faithful to; I think the water filter is helping me a lot,” he added.
Another piece of advice that the Venezuelan migrant gave is that after washing her hair, she does not let it dry naturally, but rather uses a hairdryer.
