Virginia authorities have arrested an illegal Mexican immigrant, Isauro García Cruz, in connection with the kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl from Ohio on February 29. García Cruz faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, gross sexual imposition and more.
The victim, a 15-year-old Honduran girl, was placed at a sponsor’s home in Middletown, Ohio, by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Federal and local authorities found her in Bedford County, Virginia. , hundreds of miles from home, Fox News Digital reported.
Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones has expressed concern about the situation of unaccompanied minors crossing the border, emphasizing the risks they face. According to Jones, the victim could have been 14 years old when she crossed the border alone.

Garcia Cruz also faces additional arrest warrants for aggravated sexual assault of a minor in connection with a separate incident, according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia.
The suspect is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority on a fugitive from justice warrant, as well as an additional warrant contributing to a lesser warrant from Bedford County. The case remains an active investigation.
Sheriff Jones recalled a previous case in Butler County in 2005, in which a 9-year-old girl was raped by an illegal immigrant from Mexico. The suspect was located and extradited to the United States in 2011.
Jones has stressed the importance of addressing the immigration crisis not only for border security reasons, but also for its impact on the safety and well-being of American citizens.
