The death of the Japanese manga artist and author of the Dragon Ball series, Akira Toriyama, caused a great impact throughout the world and football is not immune to this situation.

Toriyama died at the age of 68 due to an acute stroke and social networks have been invaded with heartfelt tributes with football as the main source.

Several clubs and accounts specialized in sports remembered the moments where fans paid tribute to the series of Dragon Ball characters.

Likewise, celebrations by footballers have been remembered, and some stages of Lionel Messi have even gone viral, represented with chapters of the series.

AC Milan spoke like this: “We will try to face life with as much energy as Goku! We love every minute. Rest in peace, Toriyama.”

While France’s Ligue 1 published: “Thank you very much for the best childhood, Akira Toriyama.”

Mexican soccer also honored Akira Toriyama

Through their social networks, Mexican soccer clubs “honored the memory” of Akira Toriyama by remembering iconic celebrations of their soccer players that were inspired by Dragon Ball, with Luis “Chapo” Montes, Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, Erick Gutiérrez and André – Pierre Gignac as protagonists.

The first of them was León with “el Chapito” Montes, sharing the goal celebration of the historic midfielder, who did the teleportation pose. This celebration was common in Mexico.

On the other hand, the Tuzos of Pachuca remembered the tremendous duo of “Chucky” Lozano and Erick Gutiérrez, who shined in a celebration doing the “fusion” of Goten and Trunks.

Another of the fans who brought Dragon Ball to the courts was the French attacker André-Pierre Gignac.
