The Rojinegros del Atlas are showing a fairly weak version of their playing style in the current Clausura 2024 tournament of the Liga MX, so the aspirations of those led by Beñat San José to advance to the Liguilla become increasingly more complicated currently ranking 15th in the classification table with a total of nine points accumulated in 10 days.
Despite this fact, footballer Eduardo Aguirre was quite focused on being able to change this course in the next games and especially in the duel he will play this Friday against the Puebla club.
During an interview offered for “El Mundo”, Aguirre assured that the losses that the team has suffered in this Clausura 2024 tournament due to injuries and expulsions by the referees have become the main problem for the Rojinegros del Atlas to be able to reach the expected results throughout the championship; He maintained that they can achieve victories that allow them to go to the Liguilla playoffs and that is what they have been working on.
“We have had expulsions and injuries that have also affected our results a little. All that remains is to turn the page, there are still games left and we know that entering the Liguilla is another tournament. To think about that. The same thing, turning the page, it’s over and now thinking about what’s left. We still have a chance to enter the Liguilla,” he expressed in his statements.
“We have to think about the game against Puebla. It’s going to be a complicated visit, like all games, but we know that if we come out in our best version, we can play a great game to return with the three points. As we have done in previous games, go out to press and propose on any court, whether home or away. We must come out forcefully, which we have needed,” Aguirre added.
In the current Clausura tournament Eduardo Aguirre has become one of the top scorers within the organization by scoring a total of five goals in the 10 games played; This allows him to be just one goal behind the Venezuelan from the Tuzos del Pachuca, Salomón Rondón, and the Chivas de Guadalajara player Víctor ‘Pocho’ Guzmán.
“As long as I can continue helping the team with goals, it will be important and if the scoring title is given, welcome, but always thinking about supporting the team. I am glad that there are many Mexicans fighting for the scoring leadership, that speaks of how well the clubs and national teams have been working. That can help the country a lot in the competitions it has,” he highlighted.
“Turn the page on all this, it’s over, now think about what’s coming, think about getting the three points in Puebla and so, game by game, good things are coming. With the results we have had, a little dissatisfied, like the entire group. I think we deserve a little more points, but this is not to be deserved, it is to be demonstrated and unfortunately we have not been given the results,” Aguirre concluded.
