The goal of the Food Stamp Program (SNAP) is to eliminate hunger and improve nutrition and health in the United States. The program helps low-income families purchase the food necessary for a nutritious diet and there are already confirmed dates for the allocation of these resources.
SNAP benefits are part of a federal program of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Nutrition Service, with all 50 states receiving money to finance the program and each independently managing their payment schedule.
For example, the entities that will send SNAP benefits on March 10, 2024 are:
· California
Colorado
· The District of Columbia
Idaho
· Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
· Snowfall
Oklahoma
· South Carolina
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program determines the amount of the benefit for each household depending on the number of members that comprise it, as follows:
· One person, $291 dollars.
· Two members, $535 dollars.
· Three members, $766 dollars.
· Four members, $973 dollars.
· Five members, $1,155 dollars.
· Six members, $1,386 dollars.
· Seven members, $1,532 dollars.
· Eight members, $1.1751 dollars.
· Additional member, $219 dollars more.
The payments that are transferred monthly to the EBT benefit cards are to ensure food security, as families can purchase basic foods, seeds and non-alcoholic beverages in authorized retail stores, farmers markets, among others.
