Mexican forward Alan Pulido, who lives at Sporting Kansas City in the MLS, spoke this Tuesday about his team’s 2-0 defeat against the United States and assured that for some time now the duel between both squads had been He wears the Stars and Stripes team.
As part of a virtual meeting organized by the MLS, Pulido spoke about the growth of soccer in the United States and how that has marked differences between nations.
“This country is growing a lot in all aspects and now it is being demonstrated in soccer. “I think they (the United States) are proving to be better on the field and in many things that are coming,” he said.
Pulido, a reference in the offense of Sporting Kansas City of the MLS, acknowledged that “the expectations are always there” to one day be able to return to the Mexico national team.
“I am honestly working on my club, I want to try to do the best I can here and I know that this can lead to a call to return,” he said.
“I think that in the past it was a strange feeling that I was at a very good level, scoring goals (…) and I did not have any approach from anyone. But they are things and decisions that do not correspond to me. When they call me, I will be there available if I am in good health (…) to represent my team with great pride. If not, I will always try to support them and wish them the best,” he added.
Pulido, who after recovering from a serious injury had a magnificent 2023 with 14 goals in the MLS, was ambitious about the possibilities of Sporting Kansas City being able to fight for trophies.
“We were not given the title but we are close. We have consolidated ourselves as a team and we have been very consistent in the league. That is why we will try to focus on being able to take that little leap of quality and be able to seek that championship,” he concluded.
