If there is a living legend of Costa Rican soccer, it is Keylor Navas. The goalkeeper is perhaps the best soccer player in the Central American country and although he is not currently going through his best moment at the club level, he is still the captain and figure of the Costa Rican national team.
At 37 years old, Keylor still has challenges to face, the closest being guiding Costa Rica to a good performance in the 2024 Copa América in the United States. Tournament to which they have just qualified after beating Honduras.
“Objective of this FIFA date achieved. Costa Rica will be in the Copa América. It was difficult for us today but you learn something from every game. PURE LIFE!” , Keylor wrote on his social networks after getting a place in the continental tournament.
This Copa América, in which Costa Rica will be in group D along with Brazil, Colombia and Paraguay, could be Keylor Navas’ last major tournament with his team’s jersey, because at 37 years old and currently with PSG, might start to take a step aside.
This situation is very clear to the Costa Rican goalkeeper, who, far from worrying, prefers to take it calmly. Well, he knows that day-to-day life is very important with so much experience on the court.
“I felt very good, calm, now at this age we have to live in the present that is today and continue with the beautiful game that is coming these days,” commented Navas after Costa Rica beat Honduras 3-1 and ensured its presence in the America’s Cup.
Keylor Navas renegade at PSG
Keylor Navas’ current situation at PSG is a rather complicated topic. The goalkeeper came to the Parisian team in 2019 from Real Madrid and although in his first two seasons he was the team’s starting goalkeeper, everything changed with the arrival of Gianluigi Donnarummna.
Since then, the Tico was renegaded to the substitute bench where he spent the entire 2022 season. And although he was able to leave in 2023 for a small loan to Nottingham Forest, this season he returned to the French capital and so far this season he has barely seen 180 minutes. in 26 days.
Navas’ contract with PSG ends at the end of the season and it is already known that he will not continue with the French team. And it is possible that the experienced goalkeeper will return to play in America. Some rumors link him with the MLS, Liga MX or Saprissa from his native Costa Rica.
