The coach of the French team, Didier Deschamps, expressed his dissatisfaction with the boos directed at Kylian Mbappé during the friendly match between France and Chile in Marseille last Tuesday, describing them as inappropriate.
“I’m going to be polite. The boos of Mbappé are a disappointment, to put it mildly,” Deschamps lamented, according to local press reports.
Deschamps was referring to the whistles from the fans present at the Velodrome stadium, who directed these criticisms at the French captain for being the emblem of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the rival team of Olympique de Marseille.
“Unfortunately, it doesn’t surprise me. “Everyone knows the rivalry with PSG and on Sunday there is a match between the two,” added the French coach, who has a past as a player and coach of Marseille.
Despite the boos, Mbappé contributed to the team with an assist in the second goal of the narrow French victory over Chile (3-2), although his performance was discreet, losing 11 of the 51 balls he had in his possession.
