Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, winner of 22 Grand Slam tournaments throughout his career, confirmed this Wednesday his separation from his coach Goran Ivanisevic, after six years of collaboration in which they managed to win 12 titles.

“I clearly remember the moment when I invited Goran to join my team. It was in 2018, and Marian and I wanted to innovate and bring some magic with the serve to our duo,” Nole began writing in her farewell letter shared on her social networks.

“We not only brought serve, but also a lot of laughter, fun, year-end rankings as number 1, record-breaking achievements and 12 more Grand Slams (and a few finals) to the tally since then,” he added in relation to what It was the harvest of success with the former player who was crowned Wimbledon champion in 2001.

Djokovic’s decision comes just two weeks after his last participation in the Indian Wells Masters, where he was eliminated in the second round by the Italian Luca Nardi.

Despite this defeat, the start of the 2024 season has not been as expected for the Serbian, who also lost in the semifinals of the Australian Open to Jannik Sinner, the eventual champion, and then was absent from the Miami Open.

Before working with Ivanisevic, Djokovic, 36, collaborated with Marian Vajda. It was then that the Serbian called the former Croatian player, with whom he achieved dominance in his favor in the historic sports rivalry against Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, becoming the male player with the most titles in the history of tennis.

In addition to the sporting successes, Djokovic and Ivanisevic also faced together the conflict generated by the Serbian tennis player’s decision not to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This choice caused, among other consequences, that Djokovic was deported from Australia in the run-up to the first Grand Slam of the season.
