The outcome of the trial of Luis Rubiales for the trial of the non-consensual kiss he gave to the Spanish player Jenni Hermoso at the celebration and awards of the Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 seems to be close to coming to an end, after the prosecution presented his arguments to the jury and demanded a prison sentence of two and a half years for the action.

According to the Spanish prosecutor’s office this Wednesday, for the crimes of sexual assault and coercion in the Rubiales case, he should be confined in a penitentiary center as dictated by the document of provisional conclusions that they provided to the National Court.

As if that were not enough, the penalty for the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is not the only one faced by the environment that ran the entity a few months ago because the public ministry also requested that Jorge Vilda, former technical director of the women’s team, served a sentence of a year and a half in prison.

Likewise, Albert Luque, director of the men’s team, and Rubén Rivera, former marketing director, also face sentences of one and a half years in prison.

In the case of Luque and Rivera, they were removed from their respective jobs in the RFEF this Wednesday when the charges against them became known.

Furthermore, in relation to Rubiales, the prosecution also requested a disqualification from working in sports positions for the duration of the prison (two and a half years), as well as probation for two years and the prohibition of speaking, interacting or approaching in a margin of at least 200 meters to Jenni Hermoso for the next four years.

The accusations against Rubiales could be resolved in the coming days or weeks, but said sentence would be apart from the charges that also weigh on him for alleged corruption at the head of the RFEF, with million-dollar contracts that he signed for the Spanish Super Cup. was disputed in Saudi Arabia and for which he would have earned millions of dollars for its approval.
