James Cameron clarifies the controversy over the door

On the door, since the premiere of the feature film – and even more so with the massiveness on social networks – Titanic followers questioned Cameron’s decision not to place Jack next to Rose. That way, he too would have been saved. The director responded the same thing after the documentary that National Geographic released.

“We conducted a scientific study to put an end to all this. A thorough forensic analysis with a hypothermia expert who reproduced the raft from the film. We took two specialists who had the same body mass as Kate and Leo and put sensors all over them. We put them in ice water and tested to see if they could have survived through a variety of methods and the answer was that there was no way they could have both survived. Only one could have done it,” he told The Toronto Sun in 2022.

The film Titanic won 11 Oscars.
