The Colombian National Team has achieved two important victories on its tour of Europe, beating Spain in London with a final score of 0-1 and Romania in Madrid, with a result of 3-2, in a pair of friendly matches that are part of the preparation of the Colombian team for the next Copa América 2024.
These victories have improved Colombia’s position in the FIFA world rankings, rising two places compared to the previous month, now ranking 12th.
With 1,664 points, the South American team is very close to entering the “Top 10”, being just below internationally renowned teams such as the United States and Croatia. This improvement in the ranking is largely due to the effort and exceptional performance of the players in their performance in Europe.
In South America, the Tricolor team would be considered the third best on the continent, only behind Argentina, which remains in first place, and Brazil, which occupies fifth position in the ranking. The momentum experienced by the team led by Néstor Lorenzo was reflected in its rise in the standings, especially thanks to the victory against Spain, which was crucial for this advancement.
Furthermore, in this new ranking, Colombia has been placed above soccer powers such as Uruguay and Germany, which is a significant achievement considering the history and reputation of these teams.
Currently, the coffee team is preparing to face the United States next Saturday, June 8 at FedExField in Maryland, in an important friendly match prior to their commitments in the Copa América and the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
In addition, work is being done on organizing another preparation match before the start of the continental tournament in June, with possible opponents from Europe or Central America.
