The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz expressed his frustration over his recent elimination in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open against the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, admitting that he felt overwhelmed by his rival’s game, to the point of feeling “as if he were 13 years old” due to to the inability to find solutions to counteract it.

“I think I played good tennis, I left the court thinking that perhaps I would have had to change my game a little earlier, but I think I played well, not perfect, but well,” said Alcaraz in the statements collected by EFE.

“But I feel a lot of frustration now, because it made me feel like I was 13 years old. She was crazy, she was talking to my team and saying I don’t know what to do, I don’t know her weakness, I don’t know anything. That’s why I have frustration now, but at the tennis level, I left the court happy with my tennis,” said the Spanish tennis player.

Grigor Dimitrov defeated Carlos Alcaraz with a score of 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open, thus eliminating the young Spaniard from the tournament. Alcaraz, who had been champion at the Miami Open in 2022, says goodbye to the tournament after a streak of nine consecutive victories that took him to the title in Indian Wells two weeks ago.

Dimitrov advanced to the semifinals of the tournament, where he will face Germany’s Alexander Zverev on Friday. Alcaraz, who recently won the title in Indian Wells, fell in a match in which the Bulgarian demonstrated an exceptional level of tennis.

The young Spanish tennis player praised Dimitrov’s game, describing it as “almost perfect” and highlighting his inability to find ways to make him uncomfortable on the court.

“I think he played fantastic tennis, almost perfect, if you can define perfect. He couldn’t find solutions, I couldn’t find a way to make him feel uncomfortable. “It was a great game,” Alcaraz said.

“The next time I play with him, and I’m sure there will be other times, I’ll try to do a lot of different things. We will see. But if Grigor plays this way it will be very difficult to compete with him,” concluded the 20-year-old Spaniard.
