As of this Friday, 38,096 voters had participated in the Big Apple in the early day of the New York Republican and Democratic Presidential Primaries, according to data shared by the New York City Board of Elections (BOENYC). A stage of this process that will close this Saturday, March 30.
Those who could not attend this week will have the opportunity next Tuesday, April 2, between 6 am and 9 pm, to exercise their right. That day will coincide with the internal elections in Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island and Wisconsin.
While both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden have already received enough delegates to be considered candidates for their respective parties, the official nominations will only be determined at each party’s national convention, after the 50 states and territories have voted in their primary elections.
The highest voter turnout was in Manhattan, with 11,718 votes, followed by Brooklyn with 9,884. In the Bronx 4,512 and in Queens 9,112 voters, respectively, had participated.
April 1 is the last day to apply in person to your board of elections for absentee ballots. Absentee ballots must be mailed and postmarked by April 2. They will be received until April 9.
To participate in these elections, voters had to have registered before March 23. Furthermore, they must be clear that in order to express their opinion on the candidate of their preference, without exception, they must be registered as a member of a party.
