After becoming one of the most important Mexican actresses on national television, thanks to productions such as “María Mercedes”, “Luz y Sombra”, among others, Thalía decided to retire, in 1999, from the small screen. However, and according to Salvador Mejía, producer of “Quinceañera”, a soap opera that made the singer also famous, this could change soon due to his desire to bring the Mexican back for a sequel to the popular soap opera.
Through an interview, Mejía confessed his intention to reunite Thalía with the rest of the cast of “Quinceañera”, Adela Noriega, Ernesto Laguardia and Sebastián Ligarde, for a new installment.
Bringing (Thalía) would be a dream, obviously I think the public would appreciate it very much, she did the last Televisa soap opera with me, Rosalinda in 2000 and once talking to her I tried to do something”
Will there be “Quinceañera 2”?
In the same interview, Mejía also spoke about the idea of Ernesto Laguardia, who was the first to propose a sequel to “Quinceañera”, mentioning that the new telenovela would be set 30 years after the original.
However, despite approving Laguardia’s idea, Salvador Mejía revealed that it is necessary to evaluate the value that a sequel to “Quinceañera” could offer, not only to nostalgic fans but also to new generations.
As it sounds, yes it could be done but I feel that you need Thalía, you need Adela Noriega, Ernesto and Sebastián Ligarde, I believe and it has to be shaped”
Thalía’s career since “Quinceañera”
Premiered in 1987, “Quinceañera” became the first telenovela co-starring Thalía, along with Adela Noriega, after a long career in the world of music. It should be noted that Salvador Mejía’s production is considered the first youth soap opera that addressed topics such as drug addiction and the impact of gangs on society.
After her participation in “Quinceañera”, Thalía became the star of the famous trilogy of the Marías, “María Mercedes”, “Marimar” and “María la del Barrio”, to finally be the star of “Rosalinda” and put end to his career on the small screen.
After this, the Mexican dedicated herself entirely to her musical career, which has been harshly criticized in recent months by a large number of the singer’s fans, who disapprove of her foray into the Mexican regional genre, with songs like “Choro ” and “Troka”, for wanting to be successful in the fashionable genre and turning his back on the pop that brought him great recognition.
