After the abrupt departure of Melissa Ortega, Jenna Ortega and director Christopher Landon from “Scream 7,” the future of the famous horror saga seemed doomed to failure. However, and after the recent confirmation of the return of Neve Campbell, protagonist of the first 5 installments, the new installment of the Ghostface story could be completely revived thanks to the possible arrival of another of the great stars of the franchise: Courtney Cox.
According to Variety, the only performer who has participated in each of the Scream films so far is in talks to return as journalist Gale Weathers.
It is worth mentioning that unlike Neve Campbell, who did not participate in the sixth film due to a salary dispute with the film’s producers, Courtney Cox has not “suffered” these inconveniences in any of the previous productions, so her appearance seems extremely viable. I’m back for a new delivery.
Scream 7 brings back its “heavyweights”
After the variety of controversies in which the production of the seventh installment of “Scream” has been involved, such as the dismissal of Melissa Barrera for her pro-Palestinian stance as well as the departure of Jenna Ortega due to salary disputes, those responsible for The film put various “rescue” plans into action.
Among the most popular options was the reboot of the saga with completely new actors or the return of an actor or actors from the first films. However, and thanks to recent news, those in charge of the “Scream” saga decided to “dig up” an old acquaintance of the franchise: Sydney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell.
It was the same actress who announced her return to the saga that placed her at the top of the acting scene in Hollywood, with a message through her official Instagram account where she mentioned: “It has always been a wonder and an honor to be able to playing Sidney in the Scream movies.”
Despite the surprising news of Campbell’s return, a large number of fans of the franchise, as well as Melissa Barrera, reproached the actress for her lack of support for Barrera when she was fired. Likewise, and following the news of her return, various users promoted a “boycott” against the new film in support of Melissa.
Due to the above, and due to the controversy that haunts the saga, it seems that the producers decided to take “insurance” and bring back Courtney Cox to ensure the success of the seventh film.
It is worth mentioning that in addition to Campbell and the possible return of Cox, “Scream 7” will also see the return of Kevin Williamson, creator and writer of the first film, as director.
